Cervical and lumbar disc herniation

Condition caused by leakage of disc material coming out of a deteriorated spinal disc, which can cause pressure on a nerve and therefore produce pain, but also tingling or reduced feeling or even reduced strength of arms (at cervical level) or legs (at lumbar level).

After evaluating the anamnesis (collection/gathering of information), the clinical exams (neurological exam), the image diagnostic tests (X-rays, MRI), the most appropriate therapy course is set.

 This may result  in a mere preserving treatment or targeted infiltrations (periradicular or epidural).

In selected cases a surgical operation may be needed in order to remove the disc fragment and so doing relieve the pressure on the nerve. In such case the procedure is performed using microsurgery techniques.
